THE NATION, ISLAMABAD, 08th OCTOBER 2013:- Managing Director of Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC) Saeed Ahmed Shaikh Monday urged the Korean employers to increase the quota for Pakistani workforce under Employment Permit System (EPS).
While giving a briefing to Zahid Nasrullah Khan, ambassador designate to South Korea, about EPS, he informed that there was a thin ratio of Pakistani workers exported to Republic of Korea adding that since January 2008, OEC had dispatched as many as 3707 workers and there was a dire need to enhance our workforce ensuring more foreign exchange remittances to the country. Addressing to a group of 25 Pakistani workers leaving for Korea, the ambassador advised not to over stay after the completion of their contract because it gives a negative impression of our country abroad. He also suggested not to switch off their jobs hurriedly from one organization to another one for the sake of increment of a few dollars adding that one should complete his tenure and return to the country respectfully.  Presently there are about 2500 qualified workers placed on Job Seekers Roaster (JSR) waiting receipt of job contracts from Korean employers through HRD Korea.
All-out efforts are being made to ensure dispatch of maximum workers but unfortunately the share of Pakistan is limited vis-à-vis other 14 labour sending countries.
