THE NATION, KARACHI, 28th SEPTEMBER 2013:-  International buyers highly appreciated the products displayed at 8th Annual Expo Pakistan 2013, and assured full support to promote bilateral trade.
During the Expo13 delegates from the different countries also attended the receptions and pay visits to Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
On the second day, the biggest expo in the series so far, extensive meetings were held with international buyers by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan.
These meetings turned out to be very successful where a way forward was discussed with foreign delegates. A total of 13 delegations were present from across North American and Asian regions.
The meetings that were held on Friday (today) discussed various subjects such as strategies for the promotion of local exports, pros and cons of conducting business with Pakistan, trade policy issues and how to improve the competitiveness of Pakistani products for international markets qualification.
On this occasion, ZsofiaBudai, Consular Officer from the US Consulate General, along with Japanese Consul General, also attended Expo Pakistan.  On the other side TDAP is organising a series of seminars on the side lines of Expo 2013.
The areas covered by the seminar were PUM Support to grow your business provision of Free Senior Volunteer Experts from The Netherlands and Gwadar Promotion and Development.
The guest speakers who presented the various aspects of PUM Support to grow business and Gwadar Promotion and Devlopment were Sajak Vink and Col. Maqbool Afridi respectively. The target audience of the seminar comprised of Pakistani businessmen, exhibitors of Expo Pakistan and foreign delegates, officials from foreign missions based in Pakistan. At the time of Expo 2013 Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry also invite and exchange views with the foreign delegates.
Talking with Czech business delegation headed by Jiri Nestaval, President of Czech-Middle Asian Chamber of Commerce (CSOK), KCCI president Muhammad Haroon Agar voiced that Pakistan and Czech Republic are two friendly countries; both are striving to promote peace, progress and development in the region and share similar views on many global issues.
Jiri Nestaval, said that joint efforts of KCCI and Czech Middle Asian Chamber of Commerce will bring productive results for enhancement in bilateral trade between two countries. He stated that Czech investors were willing to enter into joint ventures with local investors in the potential areas.
KCCI also hosted a reception in honour of Malaysian High Commissioner to Pakistan and Malaysian High Profile Business Delegation of more than 100 businesspersons and officials of Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation who are on visit to Karachi to participate in the 8th Expo Pakistan.
Hasrul Sani Mujtabar, High Commissioner of Malaysia on this occasion stated that Malaysia has lot to offer not just palm oil. He stated amid unfair projection and depiction of Pakistan by the media abroad, the Malaysian businesspersons came to Pakistan.
He stated that trade is among the priorities of Malaysian High Commission. Economic diplomacy has now edge over the political diplomacy. He observed that Pak-China trade corridor from Gwader to China will create a market of $3 billion. Gulzar Firoz and Muhammad Ali, the Vice Presidents of Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcome and coordinate with foreign delegations.
At the Expo Centre, FPCCI had its own booth and an office to coordinate with the delegations and buyers. Over 14 delegations visited the FPCCI’s Office including USA, South Africa, Greece, South Korea, Malaysia, Iran, Tunisia, Thailand, Singapore, Nepal in addition to a number of individual buyers.
The FPCCI arranged B2B meetings and provided them the list of manufactures and exporters.
According to Trade Development Authority of Pakistan Secretary “These meetings are essential in creating long term linkages with these international buyers. Also, these meetings help us understand on how to better position our local products in the global markets. We are delighted to see the interest shown by the North American and Australian delegations as this opens up greater business opportunities for Pakistan”.
