KPK entrepreneurs urged to help govt stabilise economy


THE NATION, PESHAWAR, 21st SEPTEMBER 2013:- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Shaukatullah has urged the entrepreneurs of province to come forward, invest in industrialisation-oriented projects, generate job opportunities for youth and contribute significantly in the ongoing efforts of government to strengthen and stabilize the economy of country, this province and FATA in particular.
Addressing as the chief guest at the 10th KPCCI Business Excellence Award, 2011-12 in Peshawar, the governor said, “I am quite conscious of the difficulties and aspirations of the business, trade and industry related circles of the province and am in the process to make it convenient that Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar visit the provincial capital and seek way forward in consultation with them to resolve their apprehensions.”  “A highly business-friendly atmosphere exists at every level and the justified demands of the Chamber will definitely get positive response to resolve them,” he remarked.
Governor earlier gave away gold medals to entrepreneurs for their excellent achievements in exports, tax paying, investments and growth.  Gadoon Textile Mills, Muhsin Match Factory, Deans Industries, Bank of Khyber and Sarhad Cigarette Industries bagged Chief Guest Excellence Award for being judged third consecutive time at the top in their respective categories.
To acknowledge the services and exemplary sacrifice of ex-provincial senior minister, Bashir Bilour, a special award was given to Usman Bilour. For the first time, services industries has also been included in the list of competitors and the City University, Peshawar bagged the distinctive honour.  The ceremony was also addressed by Senator Ilyas Bilour, Iftikhar Awan and Muhsin Wadood while the President of the Chamber, Yousaf Sarwar, welcoming the governor and the guests also highlighted salient achievements of the chamber and importance of the Award’s ceremony in making this possible.
Paying rich tributes to the services and sacrifices which the business community of the province has been contributing towards its economic development despite facing many difficult circumstances, the Governor said, now the situation is much different as compared to past and a number of investors from friendly countries have also expressed their willingness to invest in this province as well.
Similar situation prevails in respect of FATA where First ever industrial estate has been put on ground in less than three month time and out of 100 industrial plots under its 1st Phase, 90 have already been booked by potential investors.  “We are engaged actively to promote industrialization and encourage trade and business activities both in the province and FATA in particular and let us jointly make these efforts a success story.
This is also must for image building of the nation and the country,” he said.
Responding to various demands put forward by the speakers, the governor said commercial banking sector indeed carries great importance in materialization of the desires of all of us in this connection and no effort will be spared to ensure that lending on their part is also enhanced to the desired level. Side by side, he added, every potential forums will be taken on board to ensure smooth environment for making promotion of trade and business oriented activities and encourage the investors
