Punjab planning to set up Rozgar Bank for youth: CM

THE NATION, LAHORE, 12th SEPTEMBER 2013:- Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Punjab government is planning to set up Rozgar Bank for providing financial facilities to youth which comprises 60 per cent of the total population of 180 million of country.
He said that provision of jobs to skilled and educated youth, falling between 15 to 30 years, is a big challenge and in this connection, Punjab government has planned to set up Punjab Rozgar Bank for providing jobs to youth. He said that loans on soft terms will be provided to youth for business through the Rozgar Bank. He said that under this programme, Punjab government is adopting the same model for providing interest-free loans to the youth on soft terms which is continuing successfully in the province for the last two years. The Chief Minister said that Punjab government has provided loans from Rs.10,000 to Rs.50,000 to more than two lakh people during the last two years only on merit and now these people are not only earning their livelihood honourably but also helping their families. He expressed these views while talking to the delegation of Islamic Development Bank led by its Vice President Birama Boubacar Sidibe which called on him. Provincial Minister for Irrigation Yawar Zaman, Agriculture Minister Dr Farukh Javed, MPA Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Chief Secretary, Secretary Irrigation, Secretary Finance, Secretary Agriculture and concerned officers besides Director Infrastructure of Islamic Development Bank Walid Abdel Wahab, Country Manager in Pakistan Ahsanul Kibira were also present on the occasion.  Matters relating to cooperation in energy, infrastructure and other sectors were discussed during the meeting and it was agreed to promote cooperation.
The Chief Minister informed the delegation of the energy crisis, its consequences on the national economy and government efforts to overcome the problem and said Dasu and Diamir Bhasha Dams are very important for Pakistan and Islamic Development Bank should consider financing and cooperation in energy sector. The Chief Minister told that revolutionary steps have been taken in education, health, infrastructure, transport and other sectors in Punjab during last five years due to which the performance of these sectors has improved considerably. Shahbaz Sharif said that Skills Development Programme is continuing successfully in Punjab with the cooperation of DFID. Vice President of the Bank, Birama Boubacar Sidibe said that Pakistan is very important country of the region due to its geographical location and Islamic Development Bank is willing to extend it further cooperation in various sectors. He said that he has deeply impressed with the developments made in Punjab. He said that Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab has displayed best performance in various sectors.
