THE NATION, LAHORE, 11th SEPTEMBER 2013:- Addressing the concluding session of the five-day aviation paintings and craft models exhibition at Alhamra Arts Gallery on Tuesday, The Nation Editor-in-Chief Dr Majid Nizami said that the role of Air Force for the country’s defence undeniable.
Nizami remembered that on May 1998, when India conducted nuclear tests, Pakistan was under extreme public pressure for not reciprocating. However, he added, the then Nawaz Sharif-led government made the defence of Pakistan invincible and ‘the credit goes to Dr AQ Khan.’
Nizami said that the US did not want an atomic Pakistan, so they offered bribe to the then Pakistani government to stop the nuclear tests.
Dr Niazami said that the Pakistanis loved their army and are ready to sacrifice their lives for the brave military forces defending the country. However, Nizami added, the army has no right to rule over the country which is created on democratic principles of Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam.
Dr Nizami also lauded the efforts of the exhibition organisers.
Earlier, Air Commodore Sarfraz Khan applauded the paintings of Artist Masaud Akhtar Hussaini.
Speaking on the occasion, Hussaini said that over 200 art paintings reflected history of Pakistan Air Force particularly its role in 1965 Pak-India war.
