DUNYA NEWS, ISLAMABAD, 09th SEPTEMBER 2013:- Advisor to Prime Minister on foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz has said that important headway has been made in connection with release of Dr Aafia and she will soon be brought back to Pakistan.
He said this while talking to media men on the eve of a paintings exhibition in a local art gallery here Saturday. He went on to say ever since the government has come to power we have expressed our reservations to UN with regard to drone strikes.
UN secretary general has held out assurance for playing role to stop drone attacks. “We hope headway will be made in next year in stopping drone attacks, he underlined.
He told the journalists that extradition treaty is going to be signed between Pakistan and US and as per this accord Pakistani prisoners jailed in US will serve their imprisonment term in Pakistan and US prisoners held in Pakistan will serve their jail term in US.
To another question he said Pakistan wants peace in Afghanistan. However we want dialogue with Taliban. He stated that Pakistan has already made its position clear on the situation of Syria. We are however awaiting UN Security Council report on use of chemical weapons in Syria. We don’t support any external interference in Syria.
All the parties have been invited in All Parties Conference (APC) to deal with all the challenges facing the country and extricate Pakistan from them, he said.
